Anybody heard of Curt Mangan strings?

I needed a set of short-scale strings for my kid's bass today. All the local store had was a set of Curt Mangan nickel wound. The "bass guy" at the store recommended them, saying it was all he used on his basses.

They sound great. The company's marketing angle seems to be "all-USA, small company, no mass marketing". They didn't cost a whole lot, either... $20 for a set of bass strings (in a small town music store, not a big-box store).

I might have to give them a try on my guitars.

Hey Rich....I liked the way the strings sounded, it was a shame that they didn't hold up well. I use DRs and they are very good for getting me through 4-5 gigs before they give up the ghost..the Mangans only got me through 2 gigs before the dreaded breakage.

I think they might be made by D'Addario or Ernie Ball....I'm sure one of the insiders will give you the straight up.

Yes, I tried them and didnt like them too much.

I found them to loose their tone and life too fast

Meh. If I want cheap run-of-the-mill strings, I can stick with the D'Addario's and save on all those little paper envelopes.

and Ernie Balls are MUCH better IMO
