Anybody in Boston got 2x 5U4G rectifier tubes?

Have an amp down. Tubes ordered from sweetwater but if I want to play on 4th of July weekend I need something local. The local GCs seem to stock nuffin'.

Wondering whether any body or any shop in Boston might have them?

Note: 5U4G, not 5U4GB.

what happened to the old tubes? Rectifiers dont really wear out. They either work or they dont and tend to outlast power tubes by a very large margin. If you still have the old tubes just run those.

This amp was shipped to me incorrectly packaged. Not the seller's fault, he dropped it off for Fedex packaging and left after leaving specific instructions that fedex then ignored.

It is a Mesa so they couldn't kill the actual chassis (I bet they have a hole in the concrete floor, though). The huge rectifier tubes on the other hand had enough own inertia to crack the glass.

Bummer... and it doesnt have a diode rectifier to use for now?

Hmmm. Good point actually. On first though it should be safe to try, at least with a speaker simulator, not a speaker.

What model is it? I ran my dual recto with the recto tubes pulled and on diodes it ran that way fine for 2 or 3 years before i got around to buying new rectifier tubes.

Me too. Not for 2 years but until I got around to getting tubes.

It should be safe. Even if I were to switch to the rectifier tubes by accident it will just not produce any current in any circuit that has the power to destroy itself. On the other hand, now I can as well wait for the tubes. I just hope that the thing works fine once I have tubes. No way to be sure for now.
