Just a thought. I don't own any myself but I figured it'd be cool to see if you guys do! Though I almost bought a Ts9 that was supposedly owned by SRV. Guy said he got it from Rene' Martinez after Cesar Diaz gave it to Rene. Didn't feel like parting with 5 bills for an 80's Ts9 that might have been his without any proof. My uncle does have a 54' blonde black guard Tele that was owned by Hank Williams. Hank was my great Uncle. Never got to meet the man though. Haven't got to see it myself but pictures galore will be taken when I do.

Re: Anybody own any celebrity owned gear?

I have an acoustic that was owned by Les Paul. Though that's probably not saying much. Les had an 80+ year career, was an inventor, and got the first 2 prototypes of every guitar made bearing his name, so there are hundreds and hundreds of guitars he owned out there to be had.

Re: Anybody own any celebrity owned gear?

Anyway you cut it that's awesome. Owning something from a guitar icon like Les Paul is beyond cool.

Re: Anybody own any celebrity owned gear?

Ive had a few opportunities and never taken taken them cause for me its like collecting Picasso's paint brushes... Its the art that matters... without the person that was behind it its just a tool...

Re: Anybody own any celebrity owned gear?

I own a bass amp previously owned by Engelbert Humperdinck's long time bass player. An iamp 800......great amp...500 watts @ 8 ohms, 800 watts @ 4 Ohms, 1000 @ 2 Ohms. That's about it! :-) Perfect for "Kuando Kuando Kuando"

I had a chance like many did to own a Marty Friedman guitar. I failed myself because i didn't have the money at the time,

Re: Anybody own any celebrity owned gear?

I have a Danelectro baritone I bought from Billy Sheehan. It was used on his first solo album (Compression) on a track called "3 Days Blind". In fact I just looked on his site and it's still listed there!

True enough but whatever it is it can still be cool to own a piece of history... whether it be a Picaso paintbrush or The neck off Jimi' s Monteray strat.

Re: Anybody own any celebrity owned gear?

I own guitars that were owned by Dave Hlubek, Chris Cafferty, and Sammy Duette and I play them nothing like those guys did. That said I do play all three guitars regularly.

Re: Anybody own any celebrity owned gear?

i used to have a 4x12 marshall that i was told belonged to zakk wylde. i never really believed it myself and it ended up getting stolen. i do have some celeb guitar picks though.

Re: Anybody own any celebrity owned gear?

I once owned a 70's era Gibson Les Paul Classic that was once was supposedly owned by Paul Kossoff and the previous owner traded me the Les Paul for the ONLY BC Rich Explorer that Rico had originally built for himself.

Re: Anybody own any celebrity owned gear?

I've never owned any celeb gear but my band recorded our album using one of Travis Barkers old drum kits

Re: Anybody own any celebrity owned gear?

I have an old HP PA-Risc workstation that was used by a famous MIT AI lab person. It sounds awesome, or something.

/computer geek checking out

Re: Anybody own any celebrity owned gear?

I own 2 Slash prototype pickups...that he used, and rejected...haha.

Re: Anybody own any celebrity owned gear?

I have 3 guitars that are in the same room with a Megadeth CD autographed by Marty Friedman.
Does it count?

Re: Anybody own any celebrity owned gear?

I bought an mxr eq off ebay that was owned by some jazz artist. I didn't really recognize his name and it had a good BIN so the rest is history.

When I sold my superfuzz on the bay I transacted with a guy from New York who paid top dollar. I googled his name and it looked like he was a pretty well known engineer/producer.

When I bought my mim yellow fender strat in Phoenix as I was paying the guy said it was owned by someone in the gin blossoms.

This isn't what you we're asking but it's funny - I've been to no less than 4 amp/guitar repair places in two states that all said they worked on George lynch's stuff.

Stephen Pearcy played through my rig at a show once.

So, if a member of the Hendrix family offers you one of Jimi's Strat for a thousand bucks, you wouldn't take that opportunity? Good for you...must be a smart spender. The riches at Sotheby's and Christie's should have realized this when they bought Jimi's and Clapton's old Strats for millions of dollars.
