I'm looking at them to replace the celestions stock in my Marshall 1960A cab. I'm looking for a very present sound with good mids and a tight bottom to match the Rockdrivers in my other cab. These are the same speakers used in some Krank cabs if that helps.

I had a pair in my JCM 800 combo for a couple of years. They are much, much smoother than the 75's, because that's what I took out. They do have good bass...not super tight bass however, but are less present in the highs than I ultimately wanted. I equate them to having a Custom Custom pickup from an eq standpoint. It's great if that's the sound you're looking for.

Eminence builds a great, great speaker, and I wouldn't hesitate to use anything they produce.

Have you considered this:

"Lately, one very popular combo mix on all of the tone chat rooms, has been to do combos of speakers...and the one that everybody is talking about is to have two Celestion G12H30's on the bottom and two Celestion V30's on top. It is the best of both tone worlds with the warm mids and lows of the G12H30 and the smooth mids and highs of the V30's."

I would except they just plain don't sound good at all. If I'm running two cabs, I'll get the same effect....but with speakers that actually sound good with my head.

Perfect...that sound will work great with my head....the rockdrivers do the same thing with an all tube head so I can expect them to sound at least close to what I want. The V30's work great.....for tubes.

Jacob, why don't you take your rig to a music store and check out cabs with different speakers? I personally like 12H30's, but individual results vary. :)

That's a very good idea...but the local stores only have low end cabs and our GC witches at you if you do that and aren't buying.

Re: Anybody use Eminence Legend V12's?

check out the new Avatar Hellatone 60Ls, they're killer. Vintage 30's with more, focused bass. Sort of similar to Black Shadows....

....edit....

wait... where did they go? Are they out of them?
