Anybody with any experience with an OLP Tony Levin 5 string?

Re: Anybody with any experience with an OLP Tony Levin 5 string?

Not with that *exact* model, no, but I have one of the black stealth passive 4 string models, and it's a worthwhile beastie. I think I paid $110 for it, or something ridiculous. The neck profile on mine is a shallow C, nearly an oval. The stock pickup was good enough that the Bartolini I put in it's place did not make a big enough difference to warrant staying. The bridges are not super beefy. And you may want to upgrade the tuners.

I'd say "Worth a shot"...

The Crafted In Indonesia (i.e. Cort) instruments are fundamentally sound - regardless of the brand name on the headstock. Playability should be good, especially after a pro set-up. The inevitable shortcuts have been taken on the hardware and electronics.

By comparison, the OLP versions are made of cheaper looking woods and the shaping can be a bit clunky. Playability is hit and miss.

Play it. If you like it, buy it.

I've been absolutely in love with my Sterling bass neck. I say go for it.
