Anyone check out the Marshall Haze series yet?

I am always suspicious about new Marshall amps but this series looks pretty interesting, with 2 channels, boost and separate effects for each channel. I think the 15 wat head costs about $600 and the 40w EL34 combo is about $700. The 15 watter uses 6V6 power tubes.
Anyway, it's fun to watch these guys play....

Re: Anyone check out the Marshall Haze series yet?

Only a $100 more for the combo, seems too cheap to be true.

Re: Anyone check out the Marshall Haze series yet?

It's important to note that while they fly under the same brand banner, they are entirely different amplifiers.

First things first, the 15 has 2 6V6 tubes and the 40 has 2 EL34 tubes --- totally different sounds; like, completely.

The Haze 40 seems awesome --- 2 x EL34, 3 x ECC83, asymmetrically mounted Celestion, innovative cabinet design...

Re: Anyone check out the Marshall Haze series yet?

The 15 watter is the one that caught my attention. The 40w combo looks pretty cool to but I already have a 50w head.
6V6 power tubes are actually popular with a lot of tube snobs that try to get a plexi sound at lower volume. Not really big on effects myself... wish there was just a pure 15w head with no mucky muck... but the demos are pretty cool.

Re: Anyone check out the Marshall Haze series yet?

I wonder if the effects would be any worse than an average digitech pedal. The Haze seems like it would be a pretty good way to have the effects in a very uncluttered way, with all of them on the one footswitch.

Or you could just turn on some reverb and forget the other ones.

Looks like these are officially out on June 1

I am skeptical about the effects, but.... never know until you've tried it yourself I guess...

Re: Anyone check out the Marshall Haze series yet?

If you don't like the effects, then don't use them. I love Vox Valvetronix stuff but never use the effects aside from the built in OD pedal? That 152 could be a sweet practice amp!

Re: Anyone check out the Marshall Haze series yet?

I'd never buy another marshall after the ton of problems I had w/my dsl and after hearing how sh!tty my friends tsl sounds. On paper the amp sounds like a cool idea, but I'd rather go w/ another company

Re: Anyone check out the Marshall Haze series yet?

I can't wait to check them out.

After hearing the Aldrich demo, I'd be interested in trying his Suhr signature humbucker. I've never heard anything bad said about it.

Isn't there a saying about every 'other' product being more worthwhile than the ones inbetween, or something like that? :D

I hear you. Not a fan of the DSL sound and I knew someone that had problems with theirs. At least you can go to youtube and check out lots of demos these days.

My comment about onboard effects refers to more vulnerability in the chain somewhere - one more thing that can go wrong. Hopefully these amps are dependable.

Re: Anyone check out the Marshall Haze series yet?

it seems to me that for the money, you can get a much better amp.

700 for the combo!? really? my amp retails for 800 and its US made and not made out of cheapie wood

dont pay for the Marshall logo! that said, i'll at least give them a try when i find them. maybe i'll be surprised

Nothing wrong with Marshalls. I don't know where you get this kind of stuff. I gigged with DSLs for years. They kill on stage. JVMs do too. What you need is one of them Line6 amps.
