No, but I've heard nothing but stellar reviews of them. They are fairly pricey though, and are quite a wait (8 months to a year last time I read up about them). He does some amazing work though, that's for sure.

Re: Anyone ever play a Thorn guitar???

i was gassing really bad for 1 of those at the begining of last year. I wanted a black limba artisan standard. I just didn't want to wait the 9 months it would take. I still check out their forum pretty regularly and now i believe that the wait for a guitar is over a year. They make awesome guitars and do amazing inlay work.

Re: Anyone ever play a Thorn guitar???

I've played a couple. They're as nice as they look. Maybe that's not the best way of putting it since the LP Jr shape doesn't really do it for me. :)

Simply put, Ron does wonderful work and builds brilliant guitars.

damnit man now you have me looking at those guitars again...

Re: Anyone ever play a Thorn guitar???

man why is it every guitar i want takes so damn long to get. i canned a custom Suhr order and a Custom Shop Fender order due to the wait times and then bought that flame/quilt Wayne. well, i'm good with the wayne....but one of these would be sweet!! i hate to wait LOL.

how much do they go 4?

From around $2400 for the Artisan Standard to right around $4k for the Artisan Master and Single Cut designs. Then of course you can customize and add options from those base prices.

Re: Anyone ever play a Thorn guitar???

I think the prices are extremely fair for what he offers on his custom instruments. The work from every guitar I've seen him do is almost unparalleled. Maybe down the road I'll think of ordering one, I know it'd be worth the wait.

That guitar is drop-dead gorgeous, and I don't even like blue!
I was told that Thorn used to work in the Hamer custom shop. Not sure if that's true, but it would explain the look of his guitars, it looks like the Hamer Artist Ultimate.

Re: Anyone ever play a Thorn guitar???

I do not believe Ron worked for Hamer. His inlay company has done work for lots of folks including the Fender Custom Shop, though.
