Anyone familiar with Swiss made Relish guitar?

Re: Anyone familiar with Swiss made Relish guitar?

I've looked at some music press reports and their website. I'm very impressed. I like their designs, their material choices, and methods of execution. Should be awesome guitars.

Re: Anyone familiar with Swiss made Relish guitar?

One of the things I wonder, is how they attach the wood to the aluminum. There are no screw holes visible, and I'm not sure of what adhesives would bond aluminum to wood.

Oops. If I had just scrolled down a bit, I would have seen the "exploded" diagram where they show how it's constructed. :banghead:

The back is actually held on with magnets, with isolators so the aluminum plate "floats" in the middle.

pretty serious engineering for a guitar. looks badass

Re: Anyone familiar with Swiss made Relish guitar?

Yeah, but do they come with a pickguard or binding, cause everyone knows that's where the tone comes from on single cut style guitars.

They are really pretty and very well made. Cool innovations.

Very interesting and innovative design.
Working on the electronics would be a breeze with that access.

and on the inside it looks like an advanced satellite cable TV network...whats up with all the cabling and batteries???

If you watch their videos, you'll see they use a "touch" pickup control system. You can barely even see the LED's in the body until you touch them and turn them on.

do the pickups mount from inside???that would be a cool feature...pop off the back and slap a different set in...a bing,a bangand a boom....

Re: Anyone familiar with Swiss made Relish guitar?

I remember seeing those when they first came out. Cool idea, and fairly nice looking but quite expensive. Cosmetically they look a little topheavy to me, like a pretty face with a really big forehead.

Not so sure about an electronic switching system - I think many of us switch by feel most of the time, without looking down for a specific small spot on the guitar. I know I do. But I guess it would become natural after awhile, especially if that was the only guitar you were playing.

And to get the inevitable silliness out of the way, I wonder if they come in ketchup red and mustard yellow...

Re: Anyone familiar with Swiss made Relish guitar?

Neat innovation. and cool how the back plate comes off. I know some boutique guitars have magnetic control cavity plates..
One thing that concerned me, is with the special connectors for the pickups. I know I once owned a Gibson that had the control module inside and you couldnt use just any pickup with them. In the vid they said you could get connectors to allow you to use any pickups you want..

I was thinking the pricing isnt too outrageous. (2500.00) till I clicked on the Jane model.. But that has the touch switching and all. Its out of my reach, but if the guitar really does play, sound and feel good, the pricing is in line with PRS and others..

I totally dig that there are some companies re-thinking many things about guitar design. I like the way they sound, too.

I'm actually looking to sell a bunch of stuff to spring for one of these. I love this thang.
