Anyone familiar with the Gibson 490 pickups?

Do they compare to anything else, or are they paperweights? I have a LP Studio Lite (sounds real bright, due to the woods and construction) I know they put them in SGs, a bright guitar, so Im hoping they might tame my studio down. I tossed out a bid on ebay the other day and I didnt think i would win, but I did, so now I have to try them. I know they arent aftermarket and all, but if anybody can say what they sound similar to...it would be cool. Thanks.

I think they're good pickups...very one-dimensional, though.

They were good with gain in my LP Std, but the cleans were kind of dead sounding. Maybe I got duds though, as Gibson pickups are notorious for their inconsitency.
