Anyone familiar with this pickup?

ok.....after reading some of the posts on here, no one has mentioned anyhting about the SH-13 Dimebucker. Is anyone familiar with this pickup? I play mostly metal so after reading some of the other opinions about other pickups my mind is wondering now. what are your opinions on it before I install it and not able to take it back?

I am guessing that since this a "hot" pick up will it be better to sustain (hope I spelled it right) a note longer then stock pickups?

Re: Anyone familiar with this pickup?

I have one in my Epiphone Les Paul Baritone. It was designed for Dimebag Darrel, but it is not accurate to advise someone to go and listen to Pantera and Damageplan to get an idea of what it sounds like. I picked this pickup because the specs, sound, and looks match my interests.

To my ears and through my equipment, the Dimebucker seems to have a really pronounced upper midrange. The treble is enough to give a bit of sizzle without any fizzle. The bass response gets a little boomy when clean (maybe because I'm tuned down to B-standard), but it's the perfect amount of rumble when palm-muting.

Anyone looking for a hot ceramic-magnet-based bridge humbucker should keep the Dimebucker in mind. The sound is a lot different from what I've read about it on my computer.

Another very good pickup for metal is the Parallel Axis Distortion. It was a little too much for my style but a very good pickup and excellent for metal.
