Re: Anyone have a Wylde overdrive?
I have used one for a few months and overall, it's a good pedal. The bass is nice and thick, no loss like on the sd1. The output level is very strong and the pedal is pretty loud (especially with the drive at higher settings). The tone control lets you dial it in from mellow and smooth to biting and stingy sounding.
The downside is this: The pedal can be VERY noisy. I tested several TS9 and TS5 pedals along with the ZW all set to similar settings. The TSs levels were set to somewhat match the ZW's settings. With the guitar volume down, I turned on each pedal and the ZW was obviously a LOT louder with white noise.
Obviously this pedal is meant to be used like the sd1, to slam the front end of a tube amp like Zakk does. Well, I've only got high gainers and nothing like a JCM 800, so that aspect doesn't work too well for me. What I've been doing is using it like another tube screamer. That kinda gives me a thicker, fatter, smoother TS sound with more gain.
