I just had a guy tell me he thinks they use hot pickups with ceramic mags...I always thought they had more of a classic PAF blasted through a Marshall tone...am I way off?

Re: Anyone Here Familiar with U.S. Bombs?

Ouch! 16 hits and no results. '76 style punk. Good stuff. Check out "War Birth"

Re: Anyone Here Familiar with U.S. Bombs?

never mind the opened minds heres the

i kinda thought they used older school stuff but im not sure. when i saw them years ago they were using marshalls that had no logo and the guitar player was using a beat up les paul. i think i saw them on comedy central a while back actually. i had to do a double take since, that cant be the us bombs on tv

Re: Anyone Here Familiar with U.S. Bombs?

I remember that! The Bombs were the house band for a comedy show Jim Brewer hosted called "Premium Blend". Wish I could get a copy of those shows.

Been listening more closely to newer Bombs discs and it does sound like a pretty hot cermic mag lead tone. I guess I was in denial.

A Clash song, I think.

Re: Anyone Here Familiar with U.S. Bombs?

I LOVE them. I have one of their album. Friggin' great band.
I too would have guessed LP through Marshall, simply because it's a Punk thing hahah... Maybe a Custom?

Re: Anyone Here Familiar with U.S. Bombs?

Yeah, no question...my fav band of all time. So many great discs.

Me thinks a Duncan Custom...I installed an SH-5 in my LP Custom last night to test the waters. Blasted it through my JCM800 and nailed the tone right off the bat.

I was always sure about the Gibson through a Marshall thing (I've seen various JCM800's, SIlver Jubilees, etc. Lots of Les Pauls and an Explorer on occasion.)...but the pickups had me perplexed. I'd put money on them being SH-5's. It's actually fairly obvious it was a pretty hot pickup with a ceramic mag. But as a mostly vintage-type guy, I was in denial.

Pierre and Jeremy know what I'm talking about. But others should check them out. Not my favorite of their work, but here's the latest...

Epitaph has videos of better work...

Re: Anyone Here Familiar with U.S. Bombs?

im down with the Bombs!!i knew Duane Peters is an old school punk/skater. id read about him in Thrasher and underground skate mags back in the day. When i got turned onto them a few years back i was plesantly surprised he was in the band and when i went to see them, OMFG!!hes a madman!!good show, if your into the whole snotty punk stuff.yes i too love the guitar tone/playing on the early stuff.i would agree on the ceramic mag pup,ive got them on a video from when they were touring for the first album, hes playing JCM 800 and LP custom.i know that his pups are not stock, atleast in that LP.there are some good close up shots and i think they might even say SD on them.

Re: Anyone Here Familiar with U.S. Bombs?

They don't call Duane the "Master of Disaster" for nuthin'! First man on earth to skate the full loop.

I've mostly seen them with LP Customs and JCM800's as well. Duncan should sponsor Kerry Martinez...

Yup, Bombs are the real deal.

The Dug...this video you speak of...perhaps you can make it available to forum brothers? :fingersx:
