Re: Anyone Like Flange? Pictures of Flangers
I found an old ADA Flanger (like the first pic) and bought it, thinking I'd just resell it. Anyway, I put it on my pedalboard and instantly realized why it's considered so great. It's the only flanger I've heard that has that insane 'swizzle stick' sound, or that 'woundup' jet engine sound. I use it sparingly, but like others said, it sounds cool to leave it in a real slow position, so it doesn't warble your notes too much, but the thing I like to use it for is dead stops, when the band stops, then I mute/rake the strings with the flange on, turn it off, and launch into a chorus. Van Halen used to do that on "Cradle will Rock" with an MXR flange, but the ADA is so much more dramatic. I love that pedal. I even yanked a Fulltone Dejavibe off my board, just to make room for it. I also have that Fulltone choralflange, but it's a completely different pedal. OK flange sound, and good Chorus. I only use it for Chorus, although it sounds decent for flange or rotary speaker sounds. Those are the only two units I've used out of my pictures. If anyone ever comes across an old ADA Final Phase, PM me, cause I really want that pedal! I got outbid on one a week ago.
Old ADA stuff is awesome!
