I own a Boss SD-1 pedal and it's one of the best $50 I spent on a new guitar pedal. It has a metal casing for durability which is a bonus. It has a great classic rock tone you can get from it and you can dial in the sweet-spot with this must have pedal. I like how the Boss pedals are designed and it has an easy battery change for the 9V battery compartment.

I loved the pedal so much that I bought it's orange sister the Boss DS-1 Distortion pedal. I did a simple mod on the circuit board by de-soldering one of the diode ends so it's out of the circuit. This process makes the TONE control on the DS-1 much more usable. Before when it was stock if you turned the tone past 12 o'clock then your guitar would sound like a can of bees...an unusable tone IMHO.

I have a Fender Twin Reverb amplifier that sounds pretty amazing & loud! Since it doesn't have a distortion channel the amp makes for a perfect pallet for distortion & overdrive pedals. Currently I'm using a DigiTech Bad Monkey pedal along with the orange Boss DS-1 and the combo creates a true Rock 'n' Roll heaven of a tone & sound. There's a lot of range of different distortions I can get from this combo of pedals.

The DigiTech Bad Monkey overdrive pedal is another great pedal I purchased new for $50. It also has a metal casing and it has 4 control knobs. They are Level, Low, High, & Gain. This allows you to get a wider range of shape for your sound. This pedal is said to be very comparable to the Ibanez Tube Screamer pedal which is very popular amongst fellow guitarists. This pedal with the Boss Distortion pedal produces a Marshall stack sound.

I've read a few posts on this thread and have found the Boss SD-1 Super OverDrive pedal makes for a great boost pedal. I was thinking I need one for my pedal chain. Currently I plug my guitar first into the Bad Monkey pedal and next into the DS-1 and then out to the amplifier. Now a question for all...if I want to use the Boss SD-1 as a boost pedal would I first plug my guitar into the SD-1 and then out to the 2 other pedals, etc. or do I put the SD-1 after the 2 other pedals in the chain? Any replies much appreciated.;)
