I have one one my '86 Charvel–I really like how it responds and feels. Only think I would change is I wish I could change the block for brass or something.
Cool. I appreciate the insight. I was 16 when I had one. It didn't last long. I got rid of it shortly after getting it. I can't remember anything about it.
This will probably sound dumb, but what is the difference? Mine was held don by the two screws on each side and it floated. Is that stud mount? As opposed to, say a Kahler Flyer?
The designs mentioned above are the Pro models. They employ a cam system. Flat mount for Fender guitars. Stud mount for Gibson.
The Kahler Traditional model was a two-post fulcrum design, intended to retrofit Stratocasters. The pivot posts use a unique machined profile to accept the knife edges in the bridge baseplate. The bulk of the unit is a single piece. It is not possible to replace the sustain block because there isn't one in the conventional sense.
Gotcha. Mine was a flat mount. I had it in a Strat. I don't remember much about it other than I decided that I didn't like it and I was not a tremolo guy. But that was 1986.
Are you certain that you had a US-made Kahler product and not the ghastly imitation fitted to some MIJ Fender Contemporary series Stratocasters and Telecasters?
