My Synapse had EMGs in it for about 3 months...I hated them. Kinda like plugging your guitar directly into a home stereo. I took out the EMGs (the battery compartment holds spare picks now) and the 3 way switch and replaced them with SDs and a 5 way switch.

BTW, what SD's did you decide to go with?
If I have asked you this already, bare with me as I have been asking tons of people about pickup recommendations for this guitar.

No, I sold them to finance my SDs. I have an Alnico Pro II neck, and Custom 5 bridge.

The 22 frets make the neck pickup sound a lot better. It is my favorite Steinberger.
