Anyone remember this??

Re: Anyone remember this??

There no way to play anything poorly when the audiance is all on purple micro dot! LOL!

Re: Anyone remember this??

Maybe it is just me...but what is there not to get??
This was made in the late 60's, and back then the world was unsafe as today.
Dunno I have always liked trippy stuff, and I do not need any drugs for it either.
Hendrix was great!

Re: Anyone remember this??

Have a sense of humor guyz! You shouldn't talk about the 60's without throwing a little drug joke in here or there! Look! Woodstock was a miracle given the equipment those rockers had to use back in the day. PA's definatley did not have the power of today's concert rigs. Futhermore, I'm sure the amp manufacturers had "clean" sounds in mind when they built the equipment. Nobody invisioned the frantic distortion that Rock brought to the forefront.

Furthermore, Hendrix was about electric blues. By definition you gotta throw some SLOP in the mix. It wouldn't be electric blues if the cat was trying to play like Andre Segovia! It has its place just as both fine champagne and rot-gut whiskey.

oh yeah i totaly understand the impact jimi has had on music and i understand the political significance of this piece and the controversy it stirred up. i love the performance and i love jimi i was just reanalyzing it as a composition today, without taking into account the other consequences and ramifications it had for countless numbers of people.

Confirms what I already felt....when Jimi tries to play Guitar..I'm floored...

When he tries to get "artistic" on the LSD trip as someone mentioned above using his guitar as a medium...I cannot stand to listen to him.

+1. this piece was groundbreaking in its own right. but i bought the live at the isle of wight dvd and absolutely hate it. he is so drugged up here that he isnt playing well at all. he is often out of time with the drummer and bassist that i couldnt even finish watching it. just terrible.

but when i hear songs of his like the wind cries mary i just love it.

Jimi's dirty tone never did it for me. I always thought it was pretty awful. Great player though.
