With 250K's, I also use 9 gauge strings and a pick with pointed, beveled edges. It might well be the case that most Strat players who would even care about 250k / 500k tone pots use their guitar as a complimentary instrument second to the vocals and don't want the added brightness calling too much attention to the guitar, but I very much do. That video pretty much speaks for me, I think the 500k sounds waaay more alive in the video, and I'd admit that the 250k sound was probably more conducive to a rhythm guitar type capacity where you'd want the guitar to be a little more understated.

If you like a lot of neck treble and no so much bridge, then our tastes are no so dissimilar. I make a point to be more subtle and do things like palm muting and volume roll off if the bridge pickup if it's overly bright, but I won't knee cap it by making it permanently dark.

I think he's probably long gone from this thread. As you may recall, he had some definite opinions on bright HB's, pot values, and the theory that rolling down 500K tone pots can duplicate a 250K. I liked what he had to say.

After the free-for-all last week, I'll still not quite back to normal. Sorry. I've been trying in two threads to get a truce, and haven't gotten any of the other combatants to agree with that yet.

Conversations trail off, but one thing I've learned about this forum is that many posters will pick on a single word in the subject that's of interest, comment on that and ignore the subject and body of the post itself. Like someone will ask "do Pearly Gates neck pair will with a JB bridge?", and someone will comment that they used to have PG's in their Les Paul and that they recall them sounding good.

I was just joking and you both are forum friends..I've bought several pickups from Lew and we have spoken on the phone and I've modded pedals for Lew also since about 2004..I'd say we are pretty close..You and I have also had some spats,but these days I kinda choose to not go down that road.We're here for fun and not to argue..Right?

Yep. Casablanca might be my very favorite movie. The acting, the writing, the story.... And I think we can all agree on that. :)
