Anyone tried a tapped Quarter Lb. (STR-3)?

I'm thinking about the tele rhythm version of a quarter pound for a thinline build. Listening to the SD sound clips, the STR-3 sounds the best of any strat or tele p'ups that I've listened to (SC or HB). My main concern is that the tone may be a little dark in some situations. If anyone has experience with tapping one of these, how much does tapping brighten the sound, and do you like it overall?

Right now, I'm thinking Little 59 in the bridge, concentric pots for independent tone & vol., and a 5-way switch. The wiring sort of came to me at about 3am (too much afternoon coffee).

i've got a tapped tele lead QP, and its way brighter when you tap it. i like it, its real punchy, but remember, its a long way from tele country sound wise.

I've got a tapped QP in Strat with a dial-a-tap pot. After putting a steel base plate on it I really like it - that gave it more mids. However, it seems to get darker as I increase the tap (opposite others' experience).
