Anyone tried the Mama Bear?

After going into hiding for over a month to work on my musical project. I finally get a chance to come back to the forum. During my project, I found my electric acoustic didn't really sound that natural. I have heard about the Mama Bear but I've never tried it and and I would like to find out if any of you brothers and sitster had tried it and I'd like to get some comments.

Yes! Great device. Plug any guitar with a piezo bridge pickup (Strat, Ovation, etc.) into it and you'll get stellar acoustic guitar tones! Blew me away with the quality of its acoustic tones at NAMM. Lew

Re: Anyone tried the Mama Bear?

I did and Papa Bear was not to thrilled about my actions! ;)

I've heard a few guys at NAMM a year or so ago playing thorugh it, top rate guys like (sp?) Laurence Juber. Nice stuff.

Re: Anyone tried the Mama Bear?

i played a prototype at SDUGD and loved it ... i'll have one some day, no doubt

you can get them online at most of the usual suspects (sweetwaters, american music supply, etc)

Re: Anyone tried the Mama Bear?

If it affects a six string acoustic, it definitely would affect a twelve string.

Re: Anyone tried the Mama Bear?

Been thinkin bout pickin one of those up for direct-recording me acoustic stuff. Though the taylor 310ce that I got doesn't sound too bad direct already ;).

Re: Anyone tried the Mama Bear?

the thing with the mamabear is that it can only add to your current a/e tone ... it allows you to blend in as much or little as you think you need to get it 'perfect' .. tons of versatility for sure

i don't know first hand about the 12 string, but i am guessing it would be flakey through mamabear's dsp engine

Yeah, that's what worries me. Delays and glitching would be a bummer. Heck, even the Variax sounds weird when playing complex chords on its 12 string sim.

Re: Anyone tried the Mama Bear?

I've just found out that the Mama Bear is not avaliable from the regular musical instrument stores. I had to go to the manufacturer's web site and locate a dealer in my state. I'll go and check it out tomorrow. Hope Papa Bear is not offended.
