Anyone tried the new Gibson Studio Deluxe?

Re: Anyone tried the new Gibson Studio Deluxe?

Aaarrrrrrrggggggghhhhhh! I hate it when guitar manuafacturers start mixing and matching the nomenclature of existing models to describe new ones.

To me, a Gibson LP Deluxe is the same as a regular LP Standard except that it has twin Mini HBs (or, at certain occasions in Gibson history, P-90s).

Similarly, a Gibson LP Studio is the economy model, featuring a skinnier body and lacking most of the cosmetic touches, such as binding.

Another model name that I hate is the Gibson LP Junior Special. To look at it, the model is obviously a recreation of the single cutaway Special. A Junior is a different proposition.

Hmm. I wonder whether Gibson will try re-issuing the MIII and/or its electronics package?

Re: Anyone tried the new Gibson Studio Deluxe?

I dig it, but I ain't paying that much for a studio. I can get a used standard in mint condition for that price.

Re: Anyone tried the new Gibson Studio Deluxe?

I really miss my MIII!! I'd love another, so it would be fine by me if they reissued it! :D

Well, the MIII is almost old enough to qualify for "historic/heritage" status. How about an "upside-down" artiste signature endorsement model? Ibanez has The Fireman (a Paul McCartney pseudonym). Gibson could call theirs the Apollo C. Vermouth. (Another Macca pseudonym.)

Yep, the used prices on standards has been getting pretty good lately.

Gibson is brilliant. I love everything they do. Another win!

Or better yet the Les Paul Studio Lite with MIII Electronics- I saw an ad for it, don't remember ever seeing one since

I've seen the odd one on Ebay, but that's it. The MIII switching was very versatile, I'd have loved to have tried it in a Lester...

If you're speaking of the Faded Studio's, I've ran into several around 400-600, and the Faded Standard series for 900-1000. About 600 bucks cheaper. The reason I stated "What the hell kind of Faded are you buying?".

Re: Anyone tried the new Gibson Studio Deluxe?

No standards which seem to be in the $1300 range all though theres one on ebay right now for $2300

Re: Anyone tried the new Gibson Studio Deluxe?

In the last 5 days or so on ebay I've seen standards sell in the range of $1224 to $1800. The $1224 was a 2007 faded tobacco burst standard that looked amazing (it hurt to see it sell so low without me being the buyer!).

Re: Anyone tried the new Gibson Studio Deluxe?

I've seen pics, and read the specs on it....gorgeous guitar!!! Smart too! I hope Gibson wises up and makes this a permanent line. (Insofar as I know, the only place to get one is at a Guitar Denter near you...)
