Anyone try the Ibanez Steve Vai PIA yet?

I've never tried one and haven't seen any stores. Not really my look, but has anyone had any real life experiences with one yet?

Only experience I've had w/ it is I watched him (Vai) play it two nights ago :lmao:

Looks-wise I prefer the original Jem. I saw one at my local store a few weeks ago (the black one) ....but it was out of my league price-wise so I left it alone.

:no:Right there with the many george lynch models cosmetically speaking. Never have liked the Vai stuff.

I do like the neck and board specs though. Same as my two mid-late 2000's regular prestiges.
43-58mm wide,,,,,,18-20mm depth,,,,,,5pc maple/walnut ect,,,,
These are alder instead of basswood bodies though. That's a good thing but I would always change the pickups.

Waaaaaay overpriced as expected.

Several people over on Jemsite have gotten them since they were released and the general consensus seems positive. The black one in particular has been popular. I'm kinda agnostic; I've been more of a pre-Jem/RG kinda guy; do love some of the old swirls though.

Price seems typical for the way things are these days. Iirc, a 7VWH was around 3k new before the world went haywire.

Want an older Jem? The most bang for buck model is probably the DBK.

Not my cup of tea, but I appreciate that Ibanez and Vai have created a definite style that can be recognized immediately; that's not easy, and whether you like them or not, they expand the range of guitars options in the world.

Playing tricky stuff on the guitar is already enough of a pain in the ass for me . . . I don't need a PIA guitar to make things worse. :P

I am thinking if a drug Cartel leader had a guitar, this is what it would look like.
