Anyone use the EMG after burner?

Read the Harmony Central reviews and it sounds good. I've got a solid Maple baritone that sounds dull compared to my Mahogany one. Both have the 81 in the bridge. Just looking to liven up the dull tone.....

I played one of those Korean arch-top Jacksons with EMG HZs, and the Afterburner made it noisey as hell. I'm assuming it was because the pickups were passive, so I bet it'd work great with 81s.

I've got the ZW (85/81) set in both my bari's....

I'd give the afterburner a shot, then. Kerry King uses a booster, which I think is the same as an Afterburner, but has a switch rather than a dial.

Yeah the reviews say it ups the harmonic range which is missing in this very heavy Maple guitar.....

Re: Anyone use the EMG after burner?

a buddy of mine had an emg 81 on his guitar (dont remember what kinda guitar it was but it was alder body) and he had the afterburner....
i tried it on a marshall solid state full stack and the afterburner made the 81 really staticy, it sounded horrible.......

but then i tried it on his tube amp, his ENGL tube amp with the treble only at half, and the after burner made the 81 sound awesome, almost made the amp sound like a dual rectifier. It was pretty kick ass, so i guess it just depends what you use it on.
