Anyone use those Hum Eliminators?

Like the Morley / Ebtech one? Just the little inline box. Seems like a good idea but do they work well?

Re: Anyone use those Hum Eliminators?

I used to have some pretty bad ground loop and hum issues. The inline box type device didnt work too well for me. I found that it either didnt make a difference, or actually made things WORSE.

There WAS one piece of gear that DID really help with hum...check out this link:

A little pricey at $60...but well worth it considering the horrible hum I used to get at certain clubs...

Re: Anyone use those Hum Eliminators?

The Ebtech hum eliminator has worked for us in the past, in our old church building. We just moved to a new building, and have yet to iron out ALL the noise issues, but it's basically a quiet system now, and I can't find the hum eliminator. One thing I found strange about it is that it seemed to work differently sometimes, like depending on how you powered up. And sometimes it would make a larger hum, but then if you unplugged the 1/4" and plugged it back in, it would kill the hum. Almost like it needed to re-detect the hum or something. I don't know how they work, so maybe I'm an idiot and that was just the result of dirty contacts. But it seemed to be more than that. It seemed to change the hum elimination if you unplugged/plugged. It's one of those voodoo devices that I don't want to understand. But it definitely can work very well, but it probably depends on the source/type of your noise.

Frank , I assume you meant the inline box? The outlet plug sounds like a good idea too, and that price is more than worth it if it helps.

Re: Anyone use those Hum Eliminators?

Yeah the inline box. Tomorrow I'm going to try it out on our monitors if I can find it. Then I'll post back. They're the only area with noise in the new building right now. I think I can fix the noise with proper grounding eventually, so then maybe I'll sell the church's hum eliminator.

Hey Frank, did you ever end up using the eliminator or did you find the problem? I'm still thinking about this as you can tell :)

Yep, the Ebtech is supposed to be a great product. Every person that I know of that has one loves theirs.
