it is a hidden gem of the duncan line. those that try it, love it!!!
its got an overwound paf type tone, not super hot but very full sounding. blues uses it in all his trem loaded guitars and seth lovers in his hardtails. good clean tone, great dirty tone.

I play mostly distorted pentatonic stuff...blues and '80s metal. This would be going in my new DK2 to replace the Duncan Designed HB-102 that is in there. I find that pickup too muddy on chords, but decent on lead voicings. I am using a V-Amp Pro, and I favor the Modern High Gain setting..which is kind of like a Soldano.
I like distortion, so I need something that won't muddy up. In my Charvel I am using a Tone Zone and I am a fan of that pickup...but I want to try something different.

No, seriously, right now I have a Blues in my Steinberger Spirit (great axe, nice price). My rig right now consists of a Guitarport, because I seem to be in the desert! I love it for everything from mild overdrive through high gain applications, although I don't use it for cleans too often by itself (I installed a deaf eddie switch that allows you to use one coil in conjunction with the neck single coil for tele-like sounds...great for that ,clean and dirty!). Doesn't have too much output, plenty of definition, and its fits the bill completely for me. Oh, yeah, mostly use Marshall/Soldano style sounds from the guitarport, so I think it'd be great for your setup too!

I think you guys convinced me. This was a direction I wasn't even pondering until I saw the P/U on the site. I was going to go with a Duncan Distortion, but I have listened to as much Blues Saraceno as I can (I had his first album which I am sure didn't have this pickup) as well as using the search here...and the pickup really sounds amazing...at least in HIS hands!!
Anything will be better than the Duncan Designed atrocity that is in the guitar now...and I really like the smooth tone of the Blues.
I think I am going to get it!

I think you guys convinced me. This was a direction I wasn't even pondering until I saw the P/U on the site. The Blues is on the way. My fiance got it for me as a gift. I hope it will be here by the weekend, as I work out of town during the week. If it comes in, I will slap that baby in the Jackson and let you all know how it responds.
On another note, I finally found the sweetspot with the damn DD HB-102 that is in the guitar right now. You really, really need to reduce the gain. On my V-Amp Pro I turned off the gain boost and ran the gain at around 2 o' clock, no more, on the Modern High-Gain model. Any more than that and it is mud city. But, this setup gives it a pleasing tone with a somewhat singing lead tone and tight(er) chords. Of course the Tone Zone in my Charvel can ingest maximum gain and spit out pure tone...it crushes the HB-102. We will see how the Blues does.

I'd like it if Seymour would make one with traditional poles instead of the parallel axis thing. There's definitely a market for a mid 9's/overwound PAF tone and Seymour needs to exploit it...

I tossed around getting one for along time before I bit the bullet. I have one in a Carvin SC90 and it sounds fantastic! It doesnt push the amp real hard so I dont get a hot signal so I can control everything. It has fat tone and with this neck thru axe (with Floyd) sustains for days. I really cant say enough about it.

Never tried a PG but I hear it's kinda thin on the bottom. The Duncan Tone Chart shows the Blues EQ to be pretty solid and thick: "Old Les Paul tone for trem guitars".

Ancient post!!! Wow!
I have one in an RG570 and have used one in a couple diff guitars. Sounds very big and fat. It makes a trem equipped guitar sound fat and full like an LP. Dont get me wrong, wont sound like an LP, but big sounding. Harmonics are great and its just a killer pup!
