Anything sound like a Les Paul but feel like a Fender?

Another FMT Tele vote,here...

Just make sure to get a Goldtop!!!
:D

I prefer the Black Cherry, but the Goldtop got serious consideration when I bought mine. I used to own a Crimson Red one that I also liked quite a bit.

I had a prs at one point. Ended up trading it. Honestly, i'm in a dif boat than you. I find i like the sound of a strat and the feel of a les paul. Honestly, though, i will tell you --- i played a LP standard (which i had no complaints with) next to a prs pauls guitar on a clean channel, and i will tell you that to my ears, the "pauls guitar" seemed to have more resonance and overtones, in comparison. With that being said, i was never way impressed with the mildly over driven or the fully saturated tones of the "pauls guitar," which is why i ultimately decided to trade it. Feelwise though, the neck on the model i used to own seemed rounder than a strat and more like LP shapewise but was considerably less chunky (sorry i don't know what exact neck profile it was, off the top of my head. i find classifying the the shapes individually a bit confusing)

Like i said though, our ears may be dif from eachother because i love the sounds of strats and feel of a les paul. So, take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I played Pauls for a couple of years and never thought the strat would be my number one but now it is:) sure it not as heavy sounding but it sounds good and clear on my Marshall im going to boost it someday when I can get a pedal.

Ken,

Sounds like we are in the same boat. My first axe was a (budget) strat and i never appreciated it for what it was, given i was wlways trying to play metal out of it and noticed thicker tones coming out of my friends' humbuckers. Les paul's still attract me big time though, when i see NGD's of people getting les paul standards or customs, it still gives me chills.

Might be searching a long time, they don't seem to come up very often

Yeah, but they are worth it, and still cheaper than a Jackson Soloist Archtop USA, which is essentially the same thing.

The closest I can do are these two, but do they sound like a Les Paul? Well, not really...

What would I go for to meet the brief (sort of), at least being as close as possible tone-wise, with a near miss on the shape, would be this...
