I'm not a big Slipknot kinda guy, but try recording an album that sells well and support it with an international tour before you try saying that Mick Thompson isn't talented.

metal generally is image-driven and they brought a haymaker of image to the fight, along with upping the drum and percussion game across the board for mainstream metal. Also their bassist knew how to party.

exactly. look at the musically gifted players that don't have a signature model. and how many of the sig models out there are anything new or innovative?

New and innovative usually means ugly.

No matter how popular a player is, the manufacturer has to sell the guitars. For me, a guitar has to be comfortable to play on. I can usually fix any tonal issues that crop up. (In fact, I was able to save that dead sounding Telecaster with a GFS RedActive EQ model with the Treble boost turned on.) I think a lot of players may fall into that category.

He's auto-tuned all to hell. There's plenty of nobodies that can sing better than he can. He's not making millions of dollars as a drummer either. He's doing it on his image.

That's something that can be done easily at home. Churning out signature guitars takes a lot more time and materials.

For Budweiser, Heineken, Coronita or the like making a worldwide distribution production run of your signature beer can be definitely more time and material consuming than cooking some good tasting weed together at home or having a signature guitar built by geetar company whatever if you're an artist who sells

Yep.

I have some expensive ones and some cheap ones. They are all just as important to me. And it is much easier to find a cheaper one that feels good and needs some hardware or electronic mods. I feel much better about experimenting on a $400 import than a $3000 PRS.
