APH-2B mag swap

I was wondering if I swap the A2 mag for a A5 mag in a APH-2B pu would it be similar to a jazz pu or something entirely different.

AP2 and Jazz are the same wind, just with different magnet.

So yes. You will essentially get a Jazz if you swap an A5 into an AP2.

well... the aph1b is the alnico pro 2, the aph2b is the slash, so youd get something a bit different than the jazz if you put the a5 in the aph2b.

Yeah, it's not a Jazz. It's something else. Probably in the ballpark, but not the same.

I've actually had the Slash Bridge and swapped an A5 magnet in it before! I've never had a Jazz Bridge, but to me, it wasn't what I was expecting from a 9K A5 bridge pickup.

I did. I had a Slash Bridge in a PRS SE Korina Singlecut. I thought the stock A2 was a bit too low output and thin, and so I swapped an A5 in. I didn't think it was much better, so I sold the pickup.

At the time, I was very into the '59B and the PAF Pro in the bridge. I thought the Slash was gonna be hotter and fatter, but it didn't work out for me. I came from a position where I didn't like the pickup in the first place, honestly, so I'm not sure how much my opinion would be as valuable to the people who actually do like it. And also, I remember that PRS SE being pretty bright to begin with, so maybe it was just the guitar too.

Interesting. Sometimes a magnet swap works, and sometimes it doesn't. I didn't like any magnet swaps in a JB, but I didn't like the pickup to begin with.
