First time mag swapping

I would like to take the A2 mag from a TB11 Custom Custom and swap it into an Original Parallel Axis. Anything I need to be aware of? I thought maybe something might be different because of the PA's unique pole pieces.

You should be good. The poles don't change the design of the pickup to where you wouldn't be able to swap.

i swapped an a2 into a patb3 a while ago and i dont recall any issues so you should be good

I’ve never removed the baseplate to swap a magnet. Loosening the screws should be enough to allow you to push the magnet halfway out with a small flat blade screwdriver, check the polarity of the magnet by making sure the sides stick together, then completing the swap. Exposing everything held in place by the baseplate seems like an unnecessary risk, even if it is a small one. On the other hand, risking the coil wires while pushing the magnet with the screwdriver is arguably more of a risk.

Sweet, how do you like it? That one is not quite as hot as the PATB1 correct?

yeah, the patb3 is around 10k vs 14k for the patb1. im an alnico2 bucker junkie so i liked the change. it was as youd expect, softer highs, less bottom, a touch less output, and big warm mids

Swapping the magnet of Duncans, yep, pulling them out is not a big issue. But for some, especially Dimarzios, you can never do it because magnets are glued :)

Sounds like what I am looking for but I was expecting thicker/more lows but I prefer less actually. PATB1 is a touch muffled in the low end, though not too bad, soaks up aggressive picking kind of nicely depending on what your looking for. Its just a touch harsh for me on the top end, so smoothing out would be nice.

When you say make sure the sides stick together, what do you mean exactly?
