I’ve never removed the baseplate to swap a magnet. Loosening the screws should be enough to allow you to push the magnet halfway out with a small flat blade screwdriver, check the polarity of the magnet by making sure the sides stick together, then completing the swap. Exposing everything held in place by the baseplate seems like an unnecessary risk, even if it is a small one. On the other hand, risking the coil wires while pushing the magnet with the screwdriver is arguably more of a risk.
