So I get a call from a friend today, we used to play together from time to time and I've known him for years. He just moved to ME after separating from his wife & that's been a whole ordeal for him. Just constant drama all the time, without getting too far into it.. It's also been quite expensive for him & that's kinda what led to this...
Once upon a time (about a month and a half ago) I had made him a super lowball offer ($450) on his brand new 2015 LPM with case not having any real intention of him selling it. Well, he just did, or he has, I still have to go get it & pay him? He hasn't been playing very often recently but he is a great guitarist! He got the guitar around income tax time with the intention of getting back into to playing, which kinda sucks!!!
I guess mounting financial pressure has him especially motivated to sell because he practically begged me to buy it from him today!!! I'm not really but n a great place to spend that kind of money right now but I felt bad & it is a great deal!!! I did tell him that I'd sell it back for whatever I had into it but he said he wouldn't be able to afford it any time soon...
The picture above is not the guitar that I bought but it does look exactly like that & is in almost new condition! Fortunately the G-Force has already been replaced with Grover's, unfortunately the original nut is still on it! I have another 2015 Gibson so I'm well aware of how much the brass ones suck! They are just too soft to provide solid tuning stability.
I've already got one of the titanium replacements that Gibson has been sending people laying around here but I've never tried it? I may put it on this one but I also know there's better options! While I was waiting for the titanium nut to arrive I found out that a Graph Tech made drop-in TUSQ nuts. I bought one of those & it's flipping amazing! That's probably what I'll do to this one as well...
So hurray, I'm buying a L.P in a few days! Just got to find the time to go get the thing now....
