Approx cost to add a Kahler?

I always loved the black Destroyer that Phil Collen played back in the pyromania days. DT555 I think it was.. Those are hard to find for sale, esp for what I could pay. I know it isnt nearly the same, but Ive been kicking around the idea of getting one of the new black ones since they are set neck. Any guesses at approx what it would cost to have it routed out to mount a kahler?? just for S+G...

Probably $150-200, plus the bridge.

That was my guess. I can install the bridge, but dont have means to route.. Just a hairbrained idea Im kicking around.. thanks for the input!

Kahler flatmount vibrato bridges are kinda fussy about neck pitch angles. Obviously, on a set neck guitar, shimming to achieve the angle is not an option.

Visit the Wammiworld website. Read the Kahler installation instructions pages. Find out whether your proposed host guitar can wear a Kahler before spending any money.

for that price you can buy a Floyd Frx from guitarheads and forget about routing

The Kahler will cover where the tailpiece studs were but you will have to fill and refinish the bridge stud holes. I have a Kahler on my Ibanez and have encountered no problems whatsoever.

Plus no matter how you look at it...they are a POS frankly!
Boingy sounds added as a ...ermm "plus"
Horrible invention to maintain as well...
Repaired a few to many of those to ever like them!

I reckon the Floyd Rose FRX might be worth checking out. I'm toying with the idea of putting one on my Fret King Esprit (once I can afford it! )

I think that is a preference thing. Kerry King, Glen Tipton and Jerry Cantrell all play Kahler. I like mine a lot more than my Floyd Rose. I will agree with you on the maintenance. The rollers and other moving parts have to be kept well oiled at all times.
