o hey i thought u were gone for good. I'm sure you've got a ton of ideas for threads lined up for us to "discuss"

Re: Are all celestion speakers now made in China?

I don't know that all Celestion speakers are made in China, but no. It does not matter.

This guy took two pairs of brand new, never used, not even broken in Celestion V30s. One pair was made in England, the other in China. Both were broken in using the same method, and mounted in identical cabinets from the same vendor. Doing a blind test nobody could tell the difference between the two. They were sonically indistinguishable

Re: Are all celestion speakers now made in China?

see that just totally baffles me because you'd think that as long as something was constructed as the same materials using the same methods it would sound ABSOLUTELY COMPLETELY DIFFERENT AND NOT AT ALL ALIKE something made exactly the same way in another part of the planet.

i mean how is that scientifically possible? they're made in COMPLETELY DIFFERETN places.

Re: Are all celestion speakers now made in China?

There is no difference. I know this because I own 4 UK Greenbacks and 4 Chinese Greenbacks.............Placebo effect.

Specs are specs. There are factories in China that are capable of making the highest quality goods. It just depends on what specification is ordered by a company.

My issue is that there are companies that are making their goods in China, but charging made-in-USA prices for them.

Re: Are all celestion speakers now made in China?

If you charge $200 for a speaker made in England, you expect considerably more quality for the speaker made in China charged the same amount of money :)

Re: Are all celestion speakers now made in China?

Sound wise, I can't tell a difference between pre and post Chinese , I don't think value wise, it will make much difference in the long run. The real valuable Celestions are pre-Rola, and the alnicos.
If you are into boutique tones and stuff, by all means go for the Heritage series, still hand-assembled hand- wired in England.
But, come to think of it, aren't all speakers basically hand assembled and hand wired?

Re: Are all celestion speakers now made in China?

Eh, the MIC Celestions are as good as anything else Celestion has ever put out. They're a cornerstone of the speaker industry and they've been on countless recordings. You can't beat a classic, IMHO.

Re: Are all celestion speakers now made in China?

If the quality control is good and they're built to spec, they should be the same. IF. Some of the Chinese factories are known to substitute in cheaper parts and materials.

Re: Are all celestion speakers now made in China?

Same materials and quality control as in England, as far as I know. They can't afford mistakes ;)

Go for it without any hesitation.

As I understand it Celestion built a factory in China and owns the equipment and employs the workers. It's not a subcontracted operation usually associated with companies that start making their products in China. Thats the reason I believe the quality is still there. A lot of companies hire a generic Chinese manufacturing company to produce their products, thats when quality suffers!

Re: Are all celestion speakers now made in China?

Howdy,

It matters to me. Since I couldn't determine where the C-Blue is made, I opted for a Weber AlNiCo Silver Bell for my Carmen Ghia. Sounds great. A made-in-England C-Blue would've been OK, fwiw.

^ you're typing this from a computer made in China.
