Are Guyker tuners any good?

I have a customer who adores this brand because of all the color options. I get that. But they are just horrible. The lock screw falls out easily, they feel gritty and rough when turning, and the overall feel is abysmal.

I'd never suggest this brand if my life depended on it.

cheap things usually have pretty loose tolerances and quality control, doesnt mean ya cant get a good thing every once in a while

My customer bought five sets for five guitars, and all of them are abysmal. Maybe he got bad luck, or you got lucky, but at that pricepoint I'd go with Kluson, absolutely. No doubt about that.

Never tried Guykers, but have a set of these on a guitar: https://www.musicstore.com/en_OE/EU...-45-deutsche-Fluegel-chrom/art-GIT0020054-000 . Had them for a year or two now, they're really good - hold well and turn nicely. Really transformed the guitar I put them on.

I think I have Guyker Locking on my Sticker Kramer Strat.

They are way better than the originals that came on the K400 or whatever it is.

I have some JinHo locking tuners one one of m builds
they seem to work just fine to me

I have some KD Branded ones from Korea
and they are Identical to the AllParts branded import ones from WD music

I have some old Carvin Branded ones that seem to be Asian Import and work just fine

I have bought some super cheap off brands from Amazon that were junk

but the Guyker wasnt one in my experience
and I have gotten more than one set of them
they all are just fine in my experience

Yeah, I'm kinda picky about tuners ever since those Jin Hos.

FWIW, I'm also not a fan of Sperzels, so just because stuff is more expensive, doesn't necessarily mean "better".

I was not convinced on the JinHo
but this is what was shipped with the order
And they are holding tune just fine

Seems like the Wilkinson stuff is about the same price as the guyker and has a pretty solid rep.
I've got a set and they are fine.

I've been using Wilkinson EZ -Locks for a long time. They work just fine and are cheap.

"Locking" feature in them is a bit of overselling though. It's just two holes you wind the string around. I never break strings while playing so it hasn't been an issue to me, but it kind of requires pliers to change strings with them.

Upside of them is that high plain strings stick and stay in tune much better than with standard tuners. I find high e constantly slipping out of tune after changing strings really annoying.

^^ +1 I have Wilkinson vintage waffle-backs (from GFS no less) on a Tele for around 15 years. They've never failed me.

I think there's a big difference between simply "holding tune" and "holding tune while delivering precise adjustments and smooth operation with enhanced durability".

Tuners are worth spending money on, unless it is really a crappy guitar you plan to give to someone.

i would have to hate someone a whole lot to give them a guitar with guyker tuners. That's just mean
