Are JCM2000, Vintage Modern and JMD discounted?

Re: Are JCM2000, Vintage Modern and JMD discounted?

The Vintage Modern was quite an underrated amp, it sucks that it didn't really catch on that well. Paul Gilbert was using one for awhile back when they first came out. I gigged mine for about a year, but had to sell it so I could buy my AFD.

Yes, I was sad to see the VM go. It was a cool idea adding a post PI master to a plexi type circuit with built in channel jumping. A lot of people don't know how to dial in a jumped input amp or they don't use amps in that manner though.

haha
no way!

Lol! I know I'm kidding!!! I never tried the JMD but the VM and JCM2000 are great amps for some styles. Depends on what sound you are going for.

BTW how are you liking yours thus far ?

I heard the VM's are probably the best Marshall to date, never tried one tho. I just did a retube job on my tsl, and the jj's I used made the amp a lot brighter and added a bit more gain. I'm loving it so far, it can definitely do the marshall roar. I can see why some would not like it tho

Yeah I noticed my Mesa LSS 4x10 get brighter after putting JJs in too! might just be the new tube effect or something. I actually like the TSL more than the DSL. I found the TSL to cut through an be less icepicky then the DSL. Also heard my brother cranking a TSL 2x12 combo that was just ripping the room apart...In a good way!

A few other have said the same. Yeah those JJ's are definitely bright to say the least. That's freaking awesome, if he has any clips send them my way.

I can't believe the way marshall brand lead. There isn't any alternative amp for JCM2000 and vintage modern combos for that price and sound in marshall brand.

I want to make those executives watch youtube videos including an adolescent plays sweet child o' mine intro with a way faster tempo via a DSL15c and a out-of-tune les paul again and again to death.

The VM was a nice amp. The combo ( like most 2x12 combos) was too heavy. It's a shame the dropped that line.

I liked the VM. Was able to dial in some great tones with it when I played through one at a few shops. One place let me open it up a bit. Yeah, it had the tone.

I'm curious about the new DSL amps, specifically the DSL40C.

The DSL40C is nice, I was about to go for it over the Blackstar 40, until I went for the Carvin Nomad, which sounds better IMO

Well there kind of is. The DSL circuit design still lives on in combo format although its not called a JCM2000 anymore. And the bluesbreaker combo is a KT-66 powered plexi type circuit. One might need to use an attenuator in place of the post PI master and do your own channel jumping though. A split channel mod would make channel jumping more effective but that's easily done by a competent tech.

yep the JCM2000 lives on in the new DSL.
I wanted to like the Vintage Modern, would have been nice if they had skipped that reverb circuit.

I want to get a 50W Vintage Modern asap . . . before the used prices over here get hiked up to hell-and-gone.

As soon as somthing gets discontinued over here, you start to pay through your nose.
Luckily there are still a few stores with brand new models in stock.

Everyone called them DSL100 or DSL50s or whatever anyway. Unless you're talking about the TSL and they just didn't get a lot of love from most players. Personally, I love my TSL60 and would love to get a TSL100 for the extra set of EQ controls.

couldn't agree more. tho the dsl's gain channels i feel are a bit more versatile. What tubes are you running in your tsl60?
