Are the WD guitar kits any good?

They are dirt cheap, though basic. For right around $500 I could get a strat kit with a finished figured top, neck electronics, hardware, everything, I've been debating a carvin kit for years, the lack of fininish options and the price to get a guitar properly finished is why I never bit the bullet, any input is welcome.

i think you'd be better off getting a MIM Fender over the WD Kit.... even better add some extra cash and save for a Warmoth... a lot of the cheaper WD bodies and Necks like in the kits are not that great of quality.. sure they work but they are not true strat shapes... hold a WD strat body and a Fender side by side and you can see the differences big time...

i heard some of the more expensive WD parts can be good but Warmoth is much better for the the same price or cheaper..
