Are Warmoth Les Pauls back?

Re: Are Warmoth Les Pauls back?

You ever see a scarf joint on a tilted headstock? Relatively minimum surface area for glue to work. I've not seen any real neck failures at the neck joint, but at the headstock where a volute could have fixed that problem nearly entirely.

And I'm going to say this for the 1000th time:

YES - a volute does prevent the NECK from breaking in some instances

UNFORTUNATELY - a fall/blow of sufficient force to break the neck will likely break the headstock instead, so a relatively easy/sturdy neck break becomes a difficult/unstable headstock repair.

This has been studied guys.

Re: Are Warmoth Les Pauls back?

Necks that are being torn out of the body under string tension because the glue started to soften under the warm stage lights. Etcetera etcetera.

Read this to yourself in the mirror three times. This is just stupid. You should be ashamed of saying it. Go flog yourself.

That does not effing happen ever anywhere ever.

I will agree with sloppy Gibson work. But melted under stage lights? dude - stop huffing nail polish and canned air.

Re: Are Warmoth Les Pauls back?

The only thing easier than bashing Gibson: Bashing dumb@$$ Gibson bashers.

This is why Gibson can go on doing what they do - most of the haters sound like tards that have been abducted and probed by UFO's.

Re: Are Warmoth Les Pauls back?

As usual, another interesting thread devolves into gibson bashing. Well played gentlemen.

Gib - as I have said, Gibson has little to no defense for their general performance at their price point. BS plain and simple.

But I also agree - the level criticism needs to be taken up a few notches. This schiz is weak.

I was going to post about something other than Gibsons falling apart but now I forget what it was.

Re: Are Warmoth Les Pauls back?

Both of you guys :lmao:

Like EITHER of you have seen a Gibson break at the neck.Body joint. Or could tell by sound if it was long/short tenon.

I'm all for bashing Gibson on the dumb stuff they do - but don't be an idiot yourself if you go there.

Hey!! Don't tar me with his brush - I'm in the middle of calling him for his nonsense.

Re: Are Warmoth Les Pauls back?

my gibson les paul faded didnt fall apart, however, I really didnt dig the baked maple thing it had going on. I think the issue with gibson is after they had all their quality fretboard material removed from them they just started pumping out whatever they could to keep selling guitars. Most people will buy it on name alone without really thinking about if their quality has gone down. its geeks like us that pay attention to that stuff. :) Im not a gibson hater per se . Id still love to own a 2005 gibson les paul faded standard in iced tea and I was particularly fond of my Gothic explorer. Wish I had kept that guitar. Granted both of these were built before gibson had legal issues. As to warmoth yes it looks like their paul bodies and necks are back. I love warmoth's products and at some point I may build one of their pauls. My experience with them has been excellent so far.

Actually I think it's far worse.

The reason why Gibson moved from solid rosewood to laminated rosewood or even baked maple was probably a publicity move to create public awareness to the in their view unfair control on rosewood imports to the US in general, and also export policies from India specifically. That might be a valid goal from their standpoint, however they were clearly willing to plow over many individual customers to make this point.

All the while literally not a single other guitar making company had any problems getting rosewood in sufficient thickness to make fretboards without going plywood.

Re: Are Warmoth Les Pauls back?

On that issue it's obvious. Gibson just lied to save money. Because that is who and what they are.
