Are you a Humbucker or Single-Coil lover?

Re: Are you a Humbucker or Single-Coil lover?

I do like both!
I like SC's as much as HB's. Lets say 57% HB, 43% SC. :D

Re: Are you a Humbucker or Single-Coil lover?

humbuckers in the bridge every time, singles in the bridge are too thin sounding to me... however - if the guitars a tele thats a different story :)

i dont like middle position humbuckers but for the neck it depends what im playing so 50 50 either way in the neck

Re: Are you a Humbucker or Single-Coil lover?

i like buckers but think i could live without em better than i could without singles. a qp into my marshall is pretty sweet.

Re: Are you a Humbucker or Single-Coil lover?

Hmmm, it seems you guys mostly use Humbuckers for metal rhythm stuff and such. I used to HATE single-coils until I put one up with a high-gain OVERDRIVE (not your modern heavy metal distortion) and it is the most responsive solo tone I've ever had! I'm gonna have to post some clips once I get a mic because it's tough to explain. It's sorta like Yngwie, but with more gain.
Well, what I'm getting at is, single-coils can rock with metalheads too! :)

Humbuckers will always win when it comes down to that brutal CHUNK though :13:

Re: Are you a Humbucker or Single-Coil lover?

I was always a 'Bucker guy until I got my Strat Plus and put some Ants in it. That totally changed my mind towards Single Coils :)

Now I love and play both (depends on what I'm doin' but I'd say im 55% buckers and 45% Singles coils :D

duhh!!!
i think iron maiden showed us that a while ago!! :burnout:

i like both equally, i love tele single coil tone but hat strat bridge tone. but when i do jazz stuff, a nice thick humbucker is always good. and for blues, singles are hard to beat. but for my choice i'll say a nice thick humbucker that can be split :)

Re: Are you a Humbucker or Single-Coil lover?

Hard to pick. I would say taht I prefer single-coils just a teensy bit over buckers, just cuz I play clean a lot of the time.

Re: Are you a Humbucker or Single-Coil lover?

The thing is: I can plug my Strat or Tele into a STRATDELUXER modded TS-9 or DS-1 and get as fat and full an overdriven tone as I need...you'd swear you're listening to a humbucker.

But no device can make a humbucker sound as clean and lively and sparkling as a good single coil.

So I can do it all with my Strats and Teles with single coils.
