Re: ARTURIA PSA: Amazing deal on V Collection 4 if you are an Arturia owner!
I have a Beatstep and it's amazing, but the Pro blows the doors off of it. It is easily as powerful as any sequencer 5x the price. The latest firmware with sequence chaining cinched it for me.
I will be using it for ensemble sequencing with my JV1080. I am pretty stoked, actually -- last night I wote my first Performance patch for the 1080 and ran through a test sequence of one of the songs. I played live guitar and the 1080 provided bass, drums, and synths. Sounds great!!
The synth line sounded a little weak, so I was able to replicate the sound on one part to another part, change the pitch, and panned them ... sounds massive now!
Since the 1080 has multiple outputs, I can assign each group to its own dedicated output for external mixing and effects. Tonight's test will be to take the bass output and process it through my reamp/mxr bass di+ and Philosopher's tone to see how it sounds.
My only caveat is that the drums in Performance mode sound good, but not great. Gonna have to see if there was a Rythm-only expansion card (only have one slot left!).
I will be making a video of the rig in action over the weekend -- will give me something to do during the snow storm!
