I don't know much about Attenuators, but for the life of me I cant figure out why you would want to attenuate a 15W amp?? Even cranked its not loud or at least not loud enough that you have to control it beyond your guitars volume knob??

My old Epiphone vjr running through a p12r was loud enough at half volume to shake windows in the back of the house. He's got neighbors to worry about.

No I get the neighbor thing but a Princeton just isn't all that loud and if you have to worry about the neighbors then maybe a pair of headphones are in order. I know everybody's situation is different but when I play an electric guitar I usually won't play beyond 9 pm. I really try to respect my neighbors but earlier in the evening or in the afternoon I don't really think they have anything to complain about. Fortunately I live in my own home and I know many here on the forum are in apartments and that is difficult. But I lived in an apartment for many years before I bought my house and used to play my electric unplugged and low and behold I learned how to use my hands and not the amp or pedals. So it can be beneficial to practice just with your hands without the amp but I know that's not what this thread is about

15W is way too much to crank in the usual US cardbord apartment buildings.

Other than a MASS or an isolating cab setup (which may be a pretty good idea, actually. you could use it for any of your amps), I'd just get that amp off the ground and aimed upwards. Send those powerful dbs at your own ceiling instead out through a wall. Don't let the amp touch any walls or floor, and for extra protection, cut some tennis balls in half and glue them to the bottom of your amp stand for minimum vibration transfer.

We mic everything, it's about tone, not loud-
why should we be blasting off stage if we don't need to- we let the PA do the work, we set our amps how we want, even a Princeton can get loud, and to get to the sweet spot, if you don't have a master volume, the attenuator gets your amp to that sweet spot while keeping a reasonable stage volume.

So a little update....

I still havent looked at purchasing an attenuator. I think I may need to still since the cops were called on me the other night. LOL!

I'm really thinking you need to find/make an Isolating box, man. I mean, Korn uses mic'd iso cabs since forever. You can be just like Korn. It'll be wikked.

lol, I just went snooping around online for isolation cabs. Someone suggested a BRILLIANT idea, which was to use an old fridge.
I'm thinking if you can find a broken freezer locally, you should pull the plastic walls and racks out of the inside, drop the combo inside with a mic and a garbage bag of ice behind the amp for cooling.

Good god, that's an awesome idea....

This is what happens when you can't stop playing "Party in the USA" through your amps, and your neighbor isn't a Miley fan.

I talked to my neighbors when I moved in. Gave them my cell number. It's a ******y move to call the cops on you.
