I'm using a 1x12 Avatar Vintage cab for my Trinity 18 (18 watt Marshall clone), with a Hellatone 30 (broken in G12H30). It is a fantastic speaker for blues and hard rock. I realize that you need a second speaker, and I'm not sure what to recommend for a mix. But, I do know what one of them should be!

In Avatar Cabs I usually run either........

Dual V30s
V30/G12H30
V30/CL80
or some Heritage series

For your needs I would recommend any of the top 3 choices.

Since the amp is nicked off of another Matchless do what Matchless does...one H30 and one Greenback.

Mark and Phil put in the work a long time ago to find the best speaker matches for their amps, no need to stop now...

I think that just about seals the deal.

A Celestion G12H-30 cannot be all bad I would hazard a guess Sir. Check with the amp tech Mr. Scott F., but I think it'd be golden..and I think I would pair it with a V30. Just so happens I do have a G12H-30 ( 16 Ohm though which may not work for your probably 8 ohm cabinet)collecting dust.I've really no use for it..its yours for shipping.

i run a g12h/v30 combo in my fender vibroking 212 and i love it but there is a magic in the 25w greenback. like christian said, the g12h/g12m combo is what matchless used in a bunch of their amps. i played a matchless hc30 thru that pairing in buffalo a few weekends ago and it was very nice

LOL, as it turns out the speaker I pulled out of the Bluesbreaker 112 combo chassis I am currently using as a cabinet is a WGS! Lastwinj, my amp tech and a fellow forum member said it was a "crap" speaker but it was what he had laying around when I received the head and needed a loaner cab as a bridge.

Needless to say the G12H blows the WGS out of the water in terms of mids and smoothness. I absolutely love the tone I am getting from the G12H30 you sent but since the WGS is laying here...

Nobody has mentioned the Swamp Thang. I've got a G12h paired with a Swamp Thang in an Avatar Vintage 212 cab and the tone is to die for.

It doesn't cost enough, therefore it is inferior. Nevermind that they're built in the U.S.A. or that other companies have massive advertising campaigns and promo gear to pay for. Who do you think pays for all those engineering samples?

I'd like to see a real comparison of a WGS vs. the Celestion counterpart. There isn't even a crappy youtube comparison available.

I was about to suggest my favorite speaker combo Weber Silver Bell and Blue Dog (I have 50 watt pre rola treated ceramic magnet versions in my tweaker 212x).

This is my favorite speaker combo, but with the Alnico mags!

Much better than Celestion, Fane, Jensen, etc...

the WGS is a CL80 copy. the speaker itself had some holes caused by cats. good speaker, but not for all.
