Aw man this is just...

Re: Aw man this is just...

But please not as expensive :laugh2:

No offence meant to Pete Cornish of course hehe... but yeah his stuff does seem to be on of the holy grail of pedal brands.

Re: Aw man this is just...

No, 'cuz I just found money to get a TS-9 soon!

Re: Aw man this is just...

Ts9? I'll never talk to you again :D

Seriously... I've only been playing for 9 years and I do NOT Get the hype about the TS style circuit :(
The distortion you get when adding gain is ugly and nasal and boxy :(
And the boost... well ok, the boost helps you cut but takes away bass and messes up your sound.
Meh. I'm no one to judge mind you. I just don't like TS.

Rant over.

Re: Aw man this is just...

I guess we are very much agreeing over the ts there....had them all...never liked a single one of them enough to keep it.
Had boutique versions as well....lol I hated the TB thing:D
Nothing wrong with the circuit if you go for different values and perhaps some more nontraditional clipping circuits.

Re: Aw man this is just...

dude, I own *2* TS9s!! I got a good deal on one. $25 for a non-working TS9. Replace the 25cent spring in the switch, and it's like new.

:)

I need to have them modded though. I also have a Fulltone Fulldrive 2...what can I say? I'm a sucker for that TS circuit!

Re: Aw man this is just...

have any of you other folks noticed that, despite the fact that Rid makes some of the BEST pedals out there, he is still a fan of other makers' pedals, respects their work, and has even recommended checking out their products?

... such as MI Audio's stuff, which has since become one of the most popular makers

of course, Cornish doesn't need any help these days

my hats off to you, Rid!

Re: Aw man this is just...

Yeah, that's totally cool of Rid. I've yet to hear or try a freakin Carl Martin pedal yet, but everyone speaks *so* highly of them! One day I'm gonna break down and buy a Plexitone so I can get my crunch on, but until then, I'll just wait and deal with my subpar Teese and Fulltone stuff :)

Re: Aw man this is just...

You are welcome Curly:)
The world is/should be big enough for all of us...that is just how I think...
And by the way, the Maxon Pro 820 od is a smoking unit for that lowergain smooth stuff...
Then there is Alf Hermida and Sean from Lovepedal, sadly they are always behind in orders, some great stuff is coming from those gents.

Re: Aw man this is just...

I hadn't spoken much to Rid until recently but he's definitely one of the coolest people. If everyone in the music industry is like him it makes me proud that I'm redirecting my studies to get into it.

My only 'TS' pedal was a SD1. It's very easy to make it unboxier and more transparent and clear actually. Maybe 4 GBP in components. A new opamp, upgrade most of the signal caps, change some of the tone stack and there.

Man yeah! you just reignited my gas for a freakin Zendrive and a Mosferatu!! Thanks a bunch! :headbang:

Re: Aw man this is just...

Thats $1418.74!!!!!!!!!!

I think I'll stick with my tube screamer clones...

Re: Aw man this is just...

Rid,
I'm certainly a fan of pedals ..I have SO many, but the 820 is right up there with my original '83 TS9!

and I've talked to Sean about a custom Eternity ... I think that pedal is right up there with a Klon

Re: Aw man this is just...

:D
Thanks Pierre....now where did AH^DK hide out???
Hehe must trash his toadscreamer#9:D
Heard Carlton with a RI Twin and a Zen, using his old 335...wow that gentelman is a freakin' tonemeister!!

Re: Aw man this is just...

I think apart from a minor couple of changes, what I did to mine was make it a TS808 and put a TL072, weirdly enough. But that was transparent enough for me, while the stock SD1 needed more beef.

So it's VERY easy to make a TS sound better muaha...
Obviously I had improved on the pedal's own gain too ;)

hehe he's probably taken off his TS forever and modded another SD1 like yours ;) One before the pedalboard, one after!
