B.C. Rich bronze series. Any Good?

I have a guy with a Bronze series Bich, who only wants $40 for it.

The guitar makes no sound, but I think It's just a bad jack.

I really just want to know what the body is made out of. I think it's plywood, but I can't be sure until I take the neck off.

I just want to know if it would be worth the $40, plus a little more to fix it up.
I figure I'd have about $80- $90 in it, when it's all said and done.

Worth it, or run like hell?

i'd flip it. not that you're gonna get much for it, probably $150-200 at most, but if you've only sunk 80-90 bucks, you could at least make a small profit.

If it was an NJ or even a platinum, i might consider keeping it, but not a bronze.

That's what I was thinking. Make a little extra gear money off of it, and give myself something to do for a day or two, at the same time.

I still can't find if the bodies are plywood or not.

Agreed. The NJ series were pretty cool, and the Platinum were quite playable.

My bass player has a Bronze Tribal Warlock, and it's a POS. He bought it used, for $50, just to have a guitar to mess with.

If you can flip it, for even a small profit, then maybe go for it. Otherwise, I wouldn't waste my time.

They are the most awful guitars. Steer clear if you are trying to get good tone out of it

Re: B.C. Rich bronze series. Any Good?

I have a bronze Warlock. It is the worst guitar in terms of tone I have ever owned.
It LOOKS awesome. It plays well enough. But it has serious issues with notes choking out and there was a really ridiculous neck angle built into it before I shimmed it. It also had the worst tuners Ive ever come across in any cheapo guitar, they were f**king awful. Im getting there in terms of making it a playable instrument, but its taken some work.

For $40 I would buy it, purely because they DO look seriously cool.

FYI, I believe the Bronze series are made of Agathis - basically a cheap, farmed softwood, also called Kauri Pine. Strong for a softwood, easy to work, and has some good resonance qualities, which is why guitar makers use it. Tonally, people compare it to mahogany.

Does it sound good? Only you can say for sure.

Man, they're not THAT bad. Especially for $40. And yes they are agathis.

Pick it up and mod the hell out of it. They can be decent players.

Re: B.C. Rich bronze series. Any Good?

I'd scoop it up for $40. Never know when you'll need a cheapie for a mad-scientist experiment.

Re: B.C. Rich bronze series. Any Good?

I got my kid an agathis Cort X-1 for about $150 last year. It's well built & it sounds pretty cool...very tight and punchy with nice deep lows and clear highs. I'm sure I could get it to sound awesome with the right pups...the wood certainly is'nt lacking in anything.

Play before you buy if you can...it might just surprise you. :)

For $40 bucks get it and use it as a learning tool/test bed. Plus, it's an f-ing Warlock!
