I think they carried them because they sell. And they can order any other pickup, but those are what they routinely kept in stock.

I'm thinking a 59, or a Demon (And especially a PG) would make a Les Paul sound like it is "supposed to"

However, and I'm really wondering if it is time to accept this - I may - I said may - not 100% here - like the Custom more these days than my beloved Distortion. I don't know if it is that I'm playing more Def Leppard/Bon Jovi/Poison than Judas Priest/Accept/WASP these days, but I would be totally happy with Customs in all of my LP style guitars (except one with a PG!!!!)
