I just recently recieved a package in the worst condition i've seen. the driver dropped the box at my doorstep, rang the doorbell and ran to the truck, i looked down to see this..

thankfully the keeley modded DS-1 that was inside was unharmed and as beutiful as ever :22:

another time (way back when) i ordered an OLP MM1 from music 123.. 2 weeks after the order i checked the tracking number and the package had already been signed for.. yet not at my house..so the guitar went to someone else and they signed for it.. so i had to file a complaint with music 123 and then music 123 had to file a complaint with UPS to replace the guitar (as the signature for the package was chicken scratch).. i recieved the package 3 months after the order.

both these incidents were with UPS.. i have as of yet had a bad Fed Ex experience.. how about you guys?

Re: Bad Shipping stories..

thats a pretty big box for a boss pedal. lol

Re: Bad Shipping stories..

one time i ordered a pickguard from ebay and never got it... does that count?

actually, i've never had any bad luck with shipping besides that. anytime i order something from a chain i order from musicians friend because they're in kansas. if i ask for the cheapest shipping, i always get it in the next day or 2. :) box always looks new lol

that sucks about the guitar... but it seems UPS should know where the delivered the guitar to. can you get in trouble for keeping something that's delivered to u like that?

Re: Bad Shipping stories..

Just don't use Unreliable Parcel Service (UPS). Fedex 5 Day for me...forever.

I got the solution! Pack a bom that explodes when the package is abused heavily. That way, you're sure to punish the moron who can't do his job right.

Re: Bad Shipping stories..

I made the mistake of shipping an old textbook I'd sold on Ebay using USPS Media Mail. For those of you who aren't familiar with Media Mail, it's a dirt cheap way to ship books, videos, or CD's. Because it's so cheap, the postal service apparently uses no care in handling the package. It was well packed when I sent it, but apparently the shipping container was totally destroyed in the shipping process. I got the empty package in the mail, along with a note asking me to describe the contents and mail it to the postal lost and found in Colorado. I guess the book had gotten separated from the packaging. Finally, this poor guy received the book two months later, looking like it had been run over by a tractor. The binding was destroyed, the cover looked like it had been dropped in a mud puddle, and the pages were wrinkled. I offered to refund the guy's money out of my own pocket, since I didn't offer insurance on the auction, but I never heard back from him, and he never left me negative feedback like I assumed he would. Ever since then, I offer insurance on everything I sell on Ebay, and I ship everything Priority Mail. Those of you who use Media Mail, consider yourselves warned.

yeah, i usually always chip in the extra money to insure packages, but a situation like that sucks.. makes you look like the a-hole in some light. at least from the buyer end.

Fed Ex all the way though

Re: Bad Shipping stories..

I should order more things from Ebay, but I'm broke having just bought a new guitar a new amp and new pups (a few months ago but hey, I'm 16) I need a job really bad lol. I hope bad Ebay stuff NEVER happens to me!

Re: Bad Shipping stories..

I must be lucky, because I've never had anything even remotely close to damaged shipped to me. Boxes have been is very good shape, considering.

Re: Bad Shipping stories..

I received a preamp halfway in and halfway out of a box twice as torn up as the one shown! It was a rainy day, and the post office left it on my doorstep and ran, like you said. Fortunately, my dog barked at the person dropping it off on th porch and I glanced out the window to see a postman literally running away. I went outside to find a damp torn up box and the preamp, all wrapped in a GARBAGE bag!!!!! NO USPS SHIPPING FOR ME ANYMORE!!!!!!

Another time I had to work, but left a note for the FED EX guy to leave the package in the back of my truck in the garage. By the way,the package contained one of my older Les Paul guitars fresh from a new fret job courtesy of a bro in Vermont . So I get home, look in the truck, and no guitar. Walk in the front door to check the tracking to see where the guitar was, and the site shows DELIVERED. Oh Sh*T!!!!!!! I was frantically trying to convince myself that no one came into the garage and took the box out of the truck. I run back to the garage, and NO BOX in the truck. Now I am about to hyperventilate. So I notice my trusty dog wagging his tail at something. Low and behold, the guitar is IN BACK OF THE TRUCK , not in "THE" back of the truck. I felt like an idiot and I was relieved, but no more notes for me. I will just cut out of work earlier next time!!!!!

:laugh2:

Re: Bad Shipping stories..

Yeah, that certainly sucks. I've had soooo many shipping mishaps that it would make your head spin. Bottom line, we must presume that shipping companies don't give a $hit, and pack goods like they're being sent to the moon. Manufacturers should do the same.

Re: Bad Shipping stories..

I love the stories you guys are posting where the delivery guy is running back to the truck after he dumps it off... he knows they f-ed up and doesn't want to have to take the flak for it.

Re: Bad Shipping stories..

i will never send anything USPS again. they have screwed up by leaving things out in the rain, holding a package for a week, refusing to deliever nd all sorts of things. I insist that anyone who wants to ship even something very small and simple to me use insurance if they insist on USPS. I have never had any problems with UPS or fedex, but airborn express rattled my amp around so much that a tube came out of the tape and broke inside the amp. The funny thing about that is that the tube was originally packed outside the amp.

my motto is always use insurance and let them have it for the shortest time possible, also, over pack the thing cause they will do anything to it.
