bare knuckle pickups

Re: bare knuckle pickups

i want to know how close they get to the 80s era billy idol sound:naughty:

With the right amp, I wouldn't see why they wouldn't nail that sound (in the right guitar atleast).

The RYs have been the hardest set of BKPs I've owned so far to dial in with heights and EQ settings etc, gonna keep at it though :D

Re: bare knuckle pickups

Im not really sure what to ask, Brow.. what are they like? Mid focused? hot?

I know nothing about them other than they were designed for Steve, (whom I dig) and I LOVE the clip of them on the site. But again, played by Steve and who knows what other gear is involved.

Im looking for something unique for my Burny LP.

There is a player on Utube named Sam Coulson that plays a Les and uses Nailbombs and I LOVE his tone..

The RYs are quite hot (around 16-17k if I remember right) with a good amount of mids/upper mids, but nowhere near as much as a JB or a BKP Black Dog for example.

I know alot of people say that the RY is based on a JB (and I don't know how true that is) but I've never used a JB in a Les Paul, so couldn't really compare the 2.

I have a set of Nailbombs in a tuned to D Standard Ibanez S470 and they're quite 'thick' sounding to my ears. I haven't tried it, but I think they'd prob be too bass heavy in a LP for my tastes
