Bass amp is smoking (literally)...

I was using my Fuzz Factory with my friend's Bassman 400 head/cab setup, and after mere minutes of playing one of the "ports" (not the tweeter) is really smoking. This wasn't at a really high volume, but the pedal I was using does tend to oscillate (could that be it?). I should add that this cab has always given me trouble (farting out and "smelling" at high volumes).
