Bassman For Sale

50 watt silverface Bassman...the year is 1967, the first year of silverface cosmetics so it still has Blackface circuitry. Tubes are pretty new and it's got a great rockin tone...I always set the knobs to 6 6 6 :smokin:

Make me an offer...PM me or something.

mmm...bassman...I'm curious about these...how do they compare to other 60s Fender amps? What styles is a good for, what tones does it do really well, etc.?

Man the bassman from what I know is good for about anything!

And from what I can tell by doing some looking the price is great!

Out of curiosity, how do you date those old Bassmans?

Pot codes, Transformer codes, that kind of stuff

Fender's early serial numbers were basically dates, or at least had the date in them.

Also the tube chart was usually stamped with a two letter "code" and one letter stood for year the other for month

At least that is what I know! :)

You can gey a ballpark age based on physical thing...example the silverface started in 1968, that aluminum edge on the grill only lasted for one year so if that bassman for sale was a 1964-1967 it woudl have had a black face plate if it was silverface w/o the "drip edge" it would be a 1969 or later it being a silverface with the drip edge makes it a 1968...it's things like that you will learn about them that will get you into the ballpark but there are real dates on the inside.

Re: Bassman For Sale

I will venture a guess that it's a late '68. The earliest '68's had very thin vertical black lines on the face plate. If u look close u can see them on mine:

Re: Bassman For Sale

It's still sittin here...nobody has really expressed much interest. S'all good 'cuz the polka dot V i was gonna get from eBay is long gone so I may as well keep the amp :D

I'll still consider selling it for the right price...PM me and we can talk.
