Battalions of Metal

Re: Battalions of Metal

Love your axes man! You have great taste and talent!

My favorite is the rusty thing.

Nice collection you have there! The Charvel Predator (w/ the purple pups) is prob my fav of the bunch. Needs an OFR though...

I never would have guessed that...Well perhaps after hitting up audiozone to check out the old catalogs...I really like reverse headstocks along with an H/slanted S pup configuration. What bridge is on the boogyburst? Is it a single locking type Floyd? hard to make it out in the pics..

Its a super rare gotoh floyd rose that has clamps that lock the strings in place. Its a great tremolo, originally they came from gibson wrc and u2 models.

That's pretty damn cool man! I never saw one of those before, so I appreciate the close up shots of that bad boy! Thanks for elaborating on that one for me!

*Edit: so do the ball ends stay on the strings??

Yeah they do. And you can adjust that saddle height with ease.

Re: Battalions of Metal

Thanks for sharing photos of that particular Gotoh Floyd bridge from the '80's. I bought the very same bridge at Guitar Center in 1988 for a Warmoth project guitar that a gentleman who worked at the Fender Custom Shop in Santa Monica put together for me. So I can confirm that it wasn't limited strictly to Gibson guitars. This luthier instructed me to get the Gotoh because it was cheaper than an actual Floyd, yet great. The design of this bridge really is different than anything else I've seen online (both new and used). The block is tapered, with "fingers" of the bridge wrapping around it. I wonder if that might contribute to resonance? Granted, the block mass seems perhaps smaller than others I've seen online as well (not in person). Hard too say what the end result is, sonically, compared to other Floyds. Would love to hear someone's opinion on that.
