I have a vamp2. I loved it at first, and still like it better than the pod 2.0- but after you've had it some time it will really start to bug you. I don't like much anymore at all. You can squeeze some good tones out of it with the right set of pups, but it's not practical for getting the "right" sound for each situation. I'd just save the extra bucks and get a podxt if I was you. It's much closer to the real thing. Haven't tried the others.

I got a V-Amp2 this weekend, and freakin love it! I had a POD 2.0 awhile back, and it was nice too. However, considering the cheapest footswitch for the POD is like $70, and the gig bag is around $35 or so, and the Behringer includes them for free, it's kind of a bang-for-your-buck no brainer

Good post man, advice like this is what actually helps people make decisions.
Pointing out the thing most people just seem to overlook...$$$. I personally decide what gear I am going to buy based on Real dollar value vs. quality rather than just whats the absolute best. Thanks for contributing to this aging thread

V-Amps are great in the bang/buck ration, but depending on the type of use, it might not be worth it. Plastic housing and unreinforced jacks and definite NEGATIVES for live use. For home use, no problemo.
The J-Station has a couple of really cools sounds, but overall I prefer the POD.

I got a V-amp2 to play in my bedroom, and I think this is the perfect use for it. It's good fun twicking the presets and as far as I am concerned you can find descent sounds.
I got it for about 1&1/2 year and already got a defect, but no big deal. I guess for the price, you can't ask for too much.

those are good but not for direct recording because it doesnt have balanced outputs unless u have good converter
i got a pod xt for 260 from riks music i love it and u can download other peoples settings on to it and mess with them and the noise gate is great if u can go off of the effects u gave this is the way to go but looking at wat johnson made that would be the closest to this 1

Give it a year to get used to. It's one of those things where it begins to sound so one dimensional that pretty soon it's just grating. Kind of like a set of pickups that sound decent at first and terrible after LOTS of play time. Like... some of my old recordings that I can no longer stand sound fine to a lot of my friends, but every time I listen I'm just like 'ARRRGH!'

I only own a POD 2.0 Modeler.... all my other multi FX's are old stuff like the Roland GP8... Anyways the POD i hardly use.... Glad i bought it for fairly cheap with the Full Floor Board, got it used a few years ago.... i mostly use it as an emergancy back up in my gig bag incase of amp trouble..... It does sound pretty good and i did a few demos with it.
I have a buddy that swears by the J Station as being the best! I remember being knock out by the sound of the Johnson amps when i first saw them in the late 90's..... Man they blew me away! Loved hearing Randy Bachman of the Guess Who use them.... He had a great sound on that tour
